Steve Farzam is the COO of Shore Hotel, located in Santa Monica, California. A trusted leader in the hospitality industry, Steve dove into hospitality at a young age. A Seattle native, Steve’s family entered into the hospitality business after acquiring a motel. From modest beginnings, this motel put Steve on the path of hospitality and service.
Steve started his career in public service, focusing on emergency medicine. Following this acclaimed career, Steve entered into hotel management, where he oversaw the building of the Shore Hotel. In addition to embracing his role as COO, Steve Farzam quickly launched the hotel operations and dedicating his efforts to reducing the Shore Hotel’s carbon footprint.
While Steve maintains a delicate balance between his roles and responsibilities, he strives to take the Shore Hotel to new heights. Steve is committed to reducing the hotel’s environmental impact, all the while maximizing its positive impacts on guests, locals, and staff. With Steve at the forefront of various groundbreaking initiatives, Shore Hotel has earned several hundred awards and accolades for its environmental responsibility and green stewardship.
Steve Farzam’s combined determination and collaboration resulted in the Shore Hotel being benchmarked as the first property in the entire state of California to deploy a fully automated system referred to as the “Auto Demand Response” program successfully. This allows Southern California Edison to remotely send a signal during peak electrical demands on the grid, allowing the hotel to shed approximately 50% of its power consumption. Steve also joined efforts with GreenCharge networks to provide the very first Level II fast car charger in the nation.
